Iliostasía & Isimæría: Solstices and Equinoxes

The physical turning points of the year—the Solstices (Iliostasía) and Equinoxes (Isimæría)—are highly sacred days. Just like the Full Moon, the ancients viewed these seasonal shifts as times when the divine realm is most accessible.

Because our physical practice is deeply tied to the natural world, our New Zealand practitioners will experience these shifts opposite to the Northern Hemisphere. When the global calendar marks the December solstice, we get to honour the height of our blazing summer, while the June solstice marks our quiet winter. Embracing this rhythm is a wonderful way to ground your practice in the actual soil and seasons of Aotearoa.
